Former Pakistani pacer and commentator Wasim Akram has slammed Pakistani batters for not reading the Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav during the India vs Pakistan Asia Cup 2025 clash on Sunday, September 14, in Dubai.

Speaking on Sony Sports Network, Wasim Akram has also revealed the former Indian captain, Sunil Gavaskar’s advice on how to read Kuldeep. However, the former pacer was disappointed to see Pakistani batters sweeping against him every second ball.

"It's just the way he bowls. They can't read him. In the pre-show, I was talking to Sunny bhai, who was a great batter. He said 'unless and until you can read him from the hand, you won't be able to understand that type of bowling'. So that's what happened. When they sweep against Kuldeep every second ball, it means you are not reading him," Akram said on Sony Sports.

Moreover, Wasim was also not impressed with the way Pakistani batters played 63 dot balls during their innings after opting to bat first. While Pakistan has attacking players like Hasan Nawaz, Salman Ali, and Mohammad Haris, they couldn’t get going against the talented Indian bowling line-up.

"Pakistan played 63 dot balls in their innings - that's just over 10 overs of dots. Credit to the Indian bowlers. It's sad to see players like Hasan Nawaz, Haris and our captain; they are talented players. But you need to pick your bowlers, read the situation. They were all chasing a strike rate of 150," he concluded.

After opting to bat first, Pakistan could post only 127/9 in 20 overs. In reply, India finished off the game in 15.5 overs with seven wickets in hand. They are currently leading the points table in Group A ahead of Pakistan and have already qualified for Super Four stage.
