Former Pakistani pacer and commentator Wasim Akram has slammed the Pakistan cricket team, led by Salman Ali Agha, for yet another poor performance against India in the Super Four clash on Sunday, September 21, in Dubai.
Speaking exclusively on Sony Sports Network, Wasim has asserted that it is tough to watch the type of cricket being played by Pakistan. Though winning and losing are a part of the game, Akram noted that they were completely outplayed by the opposition in every department in the past four to five years.
Delving into the details of the head-to-head record, India and Pakistan have faced each other 15 times in T20 internationals. While India has come out on top in 12 games, dominating the head-to-head quite comfortably, Pakistan has managed to win only three encounters.
“I am going to speak my heart out. It is tough to watch Pakistan. I understand as an ex-player winning and losing that part of the game. But again India has outplayed Pakistan in every department over the last four or five years,” Wasim Akram said on Sony Sports Network.
“Once or twice, we have won here and there, but it has been incredible from India. The talent, the depth, everything. One or two catches can be dropped in any game, that is fine. But from 91 in the first 10 overs, when we fail to reach 200, there is nothing to say,” he added.
Talking about the Super Four clash, Pakistan, after losing the toss, posted a good-looking total of 171/5 in 20 overs, courtesy of Sahibzada Farhan's 58-run knock. In the chase, Indian openers Abhishek Sharma (74) and Shubman Gill (47) stitched a 105-run opening stand to turn the game on its head.
If India and Pakistan manage to occupy the top two spots in the Super Four round, we can expect an India vs Pakistan grand finale on Sunday, September 28.
