Pakistan achieved an unbelievable and historic feat after winning their second match of the ODI World Cup 2023, against Sri Lanka. The men in green chased down the massive target of 345 runs with 10 balls remaining and became the first team to chase the highest-ever total in the 48-year-long history of the ODI World Cup.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan skipper and star batter, Babar Azam came up with heart whelming gesture towards the ground staff of Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, in Hyderabad. Babar went into the middle to have some photographs with the entire ground staff of the stadium after his team’s remarkable win over Sri Lanka.

The video of this amazing moment involving Pakistan skipper Babar Azam is also making rounds on social media within minutes after it was shared from the official Instagram handle of cricket’s governing body.

Now, the ODI World Cup 1992 champions will take on their arch-rivals, India in their next match and the big clash of the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023. Both teams will play this iconic match at the world’s biggest ground, Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday, October 14.

Speaking of the match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka, the Islanders’ skipper Dasun Shanaka won the toss and decided to bat first. Batting first, Sri Lanka posted a big total of 344 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the allotted 50 overs. Kusal Mendis and Sadeera Samarawickrama smashed brilliant centuries and contributed with amazing individual scores of 122 and 108 runs, respectively. 

While chasing the target, the pair of Abdullah Shafique and Mohammad Rizwan rescued Pakistan after a miserable start as they lost two wickets just on the score of 37 runs. Shafique and Rizwan stitched a match-winning partnership of 176 runs for the third wicket to help Pakistan win this thrilling clash by 6 wickets.

Mohammad Rizwan won the ‘Player of the Match award for his game-changing and unbeaten knock of 131 runs in Pakistan’s favour.
