We all know cricket as a gentlemen’s game and there are some occasions when we witness a glimpse justifying the same notion. A similar incident recently happened during the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023 match between Pakistan and Afghanistan at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. It all happened when Pakistan skipper and star batter Babar Azam got his shoelaces loosened while batting.
He went to the non-striker’s end with the loosed shoelaces; subsequently, the bowler at the other end who was none other than the former Afghanistan skipper and veteran all-rounder Mohammad Nabi came up to Babar Azam to tighten the shoelaces. But in a gesture of respect for ‘elder in age’ Nabi, Babar Azam refused to get his shoelaces tightened by the veteran Afghan all-rounder.
Notably, Mohammad Nabi is way more senior than Babar Azam both in age and experience of cricket as the former is currently 38-year-old which is almost 10 years older than 29-year-old Babar Azam. This heartfelt gesture from the Pakistan skipper is also attracting a lot of praise and social media headlines as soon as the video went viral on social media.
Here’s the video when Babar Azam showed his respect for Mohammad Nabi:
