Former legendary Indian skipper MS Dhoni still enjoys a massive fan following throughout the country even after more than three years of his retirement from international cricket. Apart from that, Dhoni is also known among the fans for his down-to-earth attitude and caring behaviour for his die-hard fans.
A similar incident happened recently when the Chennai Super Kings skipper made the day of one of his fans as he attended the latter’s birthday celebrations. In an Instagram video, Dhoni is visibly eating the cake from the guy who is celebrating his birthday, in the presence of his cricketing icon and idol.
“Luckiest Man on earth,” reads the caption of the video posted over Instagram by Subodh Singh Kushwaha, who is considered one of the die-hard fans of MS Dhoni. Subodh has also a cricket academy in Ranchi, having ‘Mahi’ in the name of his academy.
Here’s the video:
Speaking of cricket, Dhoni is set to be in action for his franchise Chennai Super Kings in the upcoming Indian Premier League 2024. He was recently retained by the franchise during the IPL 2024 retention day ahead of the mini-auction for the tournament, which is set to be held later this month on Tuesday, December 19.
Notably, Dhoni captained Chennai Super Kings to win their record-equalling 5th IPL title win, after clinching the title in the Indian Premier League 2023, defeating Gujarat Titans in the final of the tournament. Now, they are also the most successful team in the tournament, alongside Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians, who have also lifted the IPL title on 5 occasions.
Meanwhile, former legendary Sri Lanka spinner Muttiah Muralitharan also lauded Dhoni for his batting excellence. Muralitharan also feels that most people talk about skipper Dhoni, but the batter in him was above all others at that time.
“People think of Dhoni as a captain only but as a batter, he was at the top. He was such a good player and when he started when he was playing, no other players could play like him because [he was] so dangerous, then because of his captaincy, he mellowed down and he knew how to finish matches for the team,” said Muralitharan on JioCinema.
