WATCH: Prithvi Shaw starts his preparation for IPL 2024

Prithvi Shaw has started his preparation for the Indian Premier League 2024. In 2023, Shaw did not have a great time, which affected the chances of the Delhi Capitals. The youngster was seen concentrating on his batting while batting in the nets. Shaw was closely watched by his trainer, who seemed to analyze his technique. The form of Shaw will be crucial for the success of Delhi in 2024.

Delhi Capitals ended the last season as one of the worst sides in the points table. They did not have batters who could perform consistently. Shaw was terribly out of form, and it led to constant changes in the management. It affected the performance of Delhi, as they did not have a settled lineup in the season. the bowling of DC in the season was very good. But the batters let them down. 

DC tried at least 4 openers in the season. Along with David Warner, many openers were tried in the position like Prithvi Shaw, Phil Salt, and Mitchell Marsh. But none of them could provide them the stability. In the middle order as well, there were not many batters who performed well for them. Sarfaraz Khan, Yash Dhull, and Manish Pandey struggled. 

Focus on defence from Shaw

DC's batting was more or less dependent on the duo of Warner and Axar Patel, with some help from Rovman Powell. Ahead of the IPL 2024, DC might have to stick to its basics. They might have to back Shaw to come good. The return of Pant would be a confidence booster for them. But at the top order, DC must back Shaw to perform well for them in the season.'

Shaw was seen concentrating on his defensive technique in the nets. There seemed to be a focus on cover drives and compact defence. Shaw was seen blocking the deliveries with as straight a bat as possible. For someone aggressive in nature, watching him bat defensively was an interesting take. Ahead of the IPL 2024, DC will be looking to perform their best in the season.
