Kohli and his infectious energy have inspired millions for so many years

Virat Kohli and his infectious energy have inspired millions of people for so many years now.

Virat Kohli's return to T20 Internationals after a 14-month hiatus was one of the most anticipated sporting events of recent times. The series against Afghanistan, held recently, was seen as a crucial stepping stone for Kohli's bid to stake claim for a spot in India's T20 World Cup squad. While the series didn't yield the kind of batting numbers fans were hoping for, it offered valuable insights into Kohli's form and mindset.

The right-hander missed the opening game due to personal reasons, but he returned in the second T20I, scoring a determined 29 off just 16 balls. He looked hungry for runs, hitting some exquisite boundaries and showcasing rich intent. The third T20I, however, saw a rare golden duck for Kohli but once again, the intent was there to be seen. In both the games, he was aggressive from the outset, looking to take the attack to the bowlers.

While his batting didn't make headlines, the two-time World Event winner's fielding throughout the series was exemplary. He displayed remarkable athleticism and safe hands, even taking a stunning catch at the deep mid-wicket boundary in the final game. This showcased his commitment to contributing to the team in all aspects of the game, even at the age of 35. The 2008 U19 World Cup winning captain ended up bagging the award for the 'Fielder of the series' and the coach, T Dilip heaped massive praise on the veteran and even asked the youngsters to learn from him.

Now, the Men In Blue will hope that Kohli maintains his form as he will be a crucial peg in the team's wheel during the T20 World Cup. The pitches in the West Indies and USA will be on the slower side, which will make Kohli's role all the more important.

Kohli slides into the team photo

Kohli's infectious energy was omnipresent during the series. After securing the series win, as India gathered for the customary trophy photo, Kohli wasn't one to simply stroll in. He surprised everyone with a playful slide, diving into the frame amidst his teammates, Shivam Dube and Rinku Singh. The unexpected move brought instant smiles and laughter, showcasing the camaraderie and lightheartedness that define the Indian dressing room. This moment, beyond the scoreboard, captured the joy of victory and the enduring spirit of Virat Kohli.
