Former Indian skipper and modern-day batting legend, Virat Kohli established him as one of the all-time batting greats ever played the great game of cricket. The modern master achieved a historic milestone as he completed his 50th ODI century in the ongoing first semi-final of the ODI World Cup 2023, surpassing the world record of former legendary Indian batter Sachin Tendulkar, who had 49 centuries to his name.

Kohli completed this milestone in just 279 innings whereas Sachin it took 452 innings for Sachin Tendulkar to complete his 49 ODI centuries. Meanwhile, one of the major highlights of Virat Kohli’s record-extending and historic 50th ODI century was his celebration after completing the century.  

After completing his run to reach the century, Virat Kohli went on to put his bat, gloves, and helmet down and bowed down to the former legendary Indian batter Sachin Tendulkar who was present there in the stands of Wankhede Stadium when Virat broke his iconic record of highest number of centuries.

Subsequently, Kohli also gave a flying kiss to his wife and Bollywood actress, Anushka Sharma who was also in the stands to witness this historic moment. She also returned a flying kiss to Kohli with the same passion and love.

Speaking of the current action of the match between India and New Zealand, the hosts have scored 348 runs for the loss of just 2 wickets in 46.1 overs, having Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul there in the middle on the individual scores of 92 and 6 runs, respectively. Earlier, Kohli went back to the pavilion after playing his historic knock of 117 runs off 113 balls, with 9 fours and 2 sixes.

Apart from this, the openers, Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill also played the crucial knocks of 47 and 79 runs, respectively. The veteran pacer Tim Southee has scalped 2 wickets for New Zealand so far in the match.
