Australian cricketer Mitchell Marsh has heaped praise on the Indian talismanic batting duo of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, who stitched an unbeaten 168-run stand for the second wicket to take their side to a consolation win in the Sydney ODI on Saturday, October 25.
Speaking at the post-match presentation ceremony, Marsh stated that India is the No.1 team in the world when it comes to the 50-over format. He also revealed that his team required one partnership towards the death overs, which they couldn’t get.
“We have seen Rohit and Virat do that for the last 10 years for a lot of teams. We needed one more partnership towards the back end, awesome learning for our young guys. India was too good. A lot of learning for us. India is the number one team in the world, so to get the job done in the first two games is something that we can be really proud of as a team and as we keep moving forward. I'm really proud of the whole team,” Mitchell Marsh said in the post-match presentation ceremony.
On the other hand, Shubman Gill also heaped praise on the Indian veteran batting duo of Kohli and Rohit for their exceptional batting skills in the chase. While Rohit smacked an unbeaten 121, Kohli scored 74* in the chase. Gill also hailed Harshit Rana, who scalped a four-wicket haul.
“They (Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma) have been doing it for so many years. It's such a delight to watch them both bat, and especially when they both finish the innings,” Shubman Gill said in the post-match ceremony.
“Harshit has been someone who's been coming in and bowling fast for us in the middle overs. On such wickets, you need someone like him,” he concluded.
