New Zealand pacer Kyle Jamieson, who scalped a four-wicket haul in the first ODI against India, has revealed that it was nice to see some of the young players on his side experience the crowd and the noise when Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma walked out to bat.

Speaking after India’s four-wicket win in Vadodara, Jamieson, who shared the dressing room with Kohli at RCB, has stated that he has been fortunate enough to tour India a few times in his career so far.

“Everyone’s trying to help each other and I’ve been fortunate to come to this country a few times and to experience everything that comes with playing cricket in this country. It was so cool just to see them experience this for the first time, the crowd and the noise and every boundary and when Virat and Rohit walked out,” Jamieson told the media.

While Kohli was batting on 93, Jamieson scalped the Indian talismanic batter's wicket as he missed out on his well-deserved century by only seven runs. Jamieson asserted that he and his team would look to try and contain the Indian stalwart in the remaining two games of the series.

“It’s hard to say from an opposition point of view whether this is the best version of him or not — he’s been pretty good for a long time, right?,” Jamieson said.

“You feel every time you come up against him, you’ve got to be at your absolute best to even compete. He’s on a different level, he plays the game on a different level to most cricketers, (and) he looked pretty good for the most part. We’ll just have to try and come up with some plans to try and contain him, but (then) you don’t contain the greats, they have their way a little bit, so just enjoyed watching him play for sure,” he concluded.

India will next take on New Zealand in the second ODI of the three-match series in Rajkot on Wednesday, January 14.
