“We made a lot of small errors and lot of mistakes” - Riyan Parag opens up on Rajasthan Royals’ elimination from IPL 2025

Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag has opened up on the team’s elimination from the IPL 2025 season after a 100-run loss to the Mumbai Indians in the 50th match of the season at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Thursday, May 1.

Parag stated that Mumbai Indians batters kept the run rate of more than 10 constantly right from the initial overs until the last over of the innings to take their side to 217 runs in 20 overs. Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav also received praise from the RR stand-in captain.

“We have to give credit to the way MI played. The way they batted, took the game a little deep, kept the 10 runs per over consistency and accelerated in the end. As far as our batting is concerned it wasn't our day. 190-200 would have been ideal (to chase), but then Hardik and Surya bhai at the end really switched it up, we could have done a few things better but it is how it is,” Riyan Parag said after losing the game to MI.

Moreover, Riyan also asserted that the poor batting display from the team’s middle order was one of the reasons behind the team’s early elimination from the campaign. He also added that they made a lot of errors and would be aiming to finish the season on a good note.

“We have been getting good starts but it is up to the middle order - myself, Dhruv, for us to step up when we lose wickets in the powerplay, but we still back ourselves, if another situation (like today) comes up then we will be up for it,” he added.

“We have done a lot of things right, lot of things wrong, we want to focus on the things we have done right, lot of mistakes, lot of small errors, focus on how to not make them and we have had a few close matches, if we get an opportunity like the first 10 games in the next 3 then hopefully we can do it better,” he concluded.
