West Indies and Australia reveal their playing XIs for first Test

Ahead of the start of the first Test on Wednesday, June 25, both Roston Chase and Pat Cummins revealed their teams’ playing XIs. Moving into the details of the Caribbean XI, Brandon King has been handed a Test debut, courtesy of his good white-ball form.

On the other hand, Shai Hope, who is set for a comeback since 2021, will keep the wickets and bat at No.6. Moreover, John Campbell also received the recall to the XI. Also, Shamar Joseph, Alzarri Joseph, and Jayden Seales are part of the pace battery.

Meanwhile, Australia, led by Pat Cummins, has confirmed that Sam Konstas and Usman Khawaja will open the innings while Josh Inglis will replace the injured Steve Smith in the XI. Konstas will replace Marnus Labuschagne, who has been dropped from the XI due to poor late performance.

Despite poor performance in the WTC Final against South Africa, Cameron Green has been entrusted to bat at No.3. While Inglis takes up the No.4 slot, Travis Head and Beau Webster are expected to bat at their usual positions.

Moreover, Cummins is all set to go ahead with the same bowling attack that was used in the WTC Final, which means there is no spot available for the back-up spinner Matt Kuhnemann in the playing XI.
