West Indies bowled out for 27 – Second lowest total in Test history as Australia seal 3-0 series win

West Indies suffered a massive humiliation in the third Test against Australia in Kingston, as they were bowled out for just 27 runs while chasing a 204-run target. The Australian pace trio of Mitchell Starc (6 wickets), Scott Boland (3 wickets), and Josh Hazlewood (1 wicket) tore through the Windies batting line-up with ruthless precision.

This score of 27 became the second-lowest team total in the history of Test cricket.

The game had been low-scoring from the start. Australia were bowled out for 225 in their first innings, but the West Indies could only manage 143, giving the visitors an 82-run first-innings lead.

However, the Windies bowlers responded well, dismissing Australia for just 121 in the second innings. That set up a 204-run target for the hosts, but what followed was a shocking collapse.

Mitchell Starc opened with a three-wicket maiden, removing John Campbell, Kevlon Anderson, and Brandon King in the very first over, leaving West Indies at 0/3. He soon added two more wickets, reducing the home side to 7/5, and completed a five-wicket haul in his 100th Test.

Then came Hazlewood, who got rid of West Indies skipper Roston Chase for an 11-ball duck.

Scott Boland then made history by becoming the first bowler ever to take a hat-trick in day-night Test cricket. In the 14th over, he dismissed Justin Greaves (11), Shamar Joseph (golden duck), and Jomel Warrican (golden duck) on the first three balls. The Windies crashed from 26/6 to 26/9, equalling the lowest ever Test total at that point.

Alzarri Joseph took a single in the next over to avoid the unwanted record. But Starc dismissed Jayden Seales, ending the innings at 27 all out in just 14.3 overs, giving Australia a 176-run win.

With this crushing defeat, West Indies were clean-swept 0-3 in the Test series on home soil.
