Pakistan and the West Indies are set to face each other in a three-match ODI series in Tarouba, West Indies, from August 8 to August 12. The upcoming series follows a successful outing for Pakistan, who recently clinched the T20I series 2-1. With momentum on their side, the visitors will aim to continue their good form in the 50-over format.
However, Pakistan have been dealt a setback ahead of the ODI leg, as experienced batter Fakhar Zaman has been ruled out due to injury. He picked up a left hamstring strain during the second T20I, which also prevented him from playing in the third and final match of that series.
Fakhar will now begin his recovery process under the care of the PCB medical staff at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore. As of now, the Pakistan Cricket Board has not named a replacement for the ODI squad.
Historically, Pakistan and the West Indies have played 137 one-day internationals against each other. The West Indies hold a slight edge with 71 wins, while Pakistan have emerged victorious in 63 matches. Three contests have ended in ties.
The last time these two teams met in a bilateral ODI series was in 2022 in Pakistan, where the home side swept the series 3-0 in convincing fashion. However, the West Indies have yet to announce their squad for this upcoming ODI series. It will be their first ODI outing after losing the ODI series 0-3 against England in England in May-June 2025.
