England captain Harry Brook has stated that the team’s recent close wins gave them huge confidence. Notably, England’s only defeat in the showpiece event came against the West Indies.

India will lock horns with the two-time winners England in the second semi-final of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 campaign at the iconic Wankhede Stadium on Thursday, March 5. Brook, while speaking in the pre-match press conference, has asserted that it’s a dream come true to play a World Cup semi-final against India.

"No, definitely not unbeatable, but I think it gives us a lot of confidence going into this game as well. We've won them tight games, which in World Cups prove to be very important as well. And we've got a lot of confidence going into the deeper parts of the game. We've won games, which we probably shouldn't have won. And it just feels like we've never really been out of any game so far, which holds you in good stead in these world competitions," Harry Brook told the reporters.

"It's up there for sure. It's a dream come true for most of us to play in a World Cup semi-final against the home nation on a very iconic ground. So we're all really looking forward to it," he added.

For the unversed, for the third time in a row, England and India will be taking on each other for a spot in the ICC T20 World Cup final after the 2022 and 2024 editions.

England started their campaign with a four-run win over Nepal. Later, they suffered a 30-run defeat to the West Indies. In their third group stage clash, England defeated Scotland by five wickets. Later, they defeated Italy by 24 runs to make it to the Super8 round.

In the Super8 round, England remained unbeaten, defeating Sri Lanka by 51 runs, Pakistan by two wickets, and New Zealand by four wickets to advance to the semi-final.
