What is Rohit Sharma's IPL 2025 salary?

Rohit Sharma is set to don the Mumbai Indians (MI) jersey once again for the upcoming 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL). Last season, the franchise handed over the captaincy to star Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya, replacing Rohit. 

Despite the change in leadership, Rohit delivered a solid performance with the bat, surpassing the 400-run mark for the first time since 2019. He scored 417 runs in 14 games, compared to 405 runs in 15 matches during the 2019 season.

In the last edition, Rohit recorded one century and one fifty, finishing with an average of 32.08 and a strike rate of 150.00 — his best strike rate in IPL history since the league's inception in 2008.

However, under Hardik's captaincy, MI struggled as a team, finishing at the bottom of the table with just four wins in 14 matches. Fans were vocal in their disappointment and showed strong support for Rohit to regain the captaincy and carry forward MI’s legacy. 

During the season, rumours swirled that Rohit might leave the franchise and join a new team. But when MI announced their retained players' list ahead of the mega auction, Rohit's name appeared alongside Jasprit Bumrah, Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav, and Hardik Pandya.

The franchise retained Rohit for ₹16.30 crore, a 1.875% increase from his previous contract, where he earned ₹16 crore from 2022 to 2024. Known as ‘Hitman’ among his fans, Rohit will continue to entertain in the iconic blue and gold jersey.

Speaking of his IPL career, Rohit, the 2024 T20 World Cup-winning captain, has amassed 6,628 runs in 257 matches at an average of 29.72 and a strike rate of 131.14. His record includes 43 fifties, two centuries, and 280 sixes — placing him second only to Chris Gayle’s 357 sixes. 

With his power-hitting and vast experience, MI has ensured to retain the legendary player and reward him with a significant salary. However, how Rohit’s performance will impact MI in the upcoming season under Hardik’s leadership remains to be seen, as his ability to score quick runs at the top will be crucial for the team’s success.
