Dinesh Karthik is one of the top Indian cricketers who recently retired from international cricket. Karthik is best known for the kind of comeback he made at the highest level after going into depression in the middle of his career. It was due to a personal tragedy in his married life.
For the unversed, Karthik is currently married to India’s squash player Dipika Pallikal. The couple got engaged in 2013 and two years later in 2015, they got married to each other. In 2021, they were blessed with twins naming their boys - Kabir and Zian.
However, Karthik’s first marriage was no sort of destruction in his life. He got married to Nikita Vanjara in 2007. They were childhood friends and grew up together as well. Their friendship turned into love soon and their respective families agreed to their marriage as well.
After living together for five years happily, cracks started appearing in their lives. Nikita fell for Karthik’s friend and Indian teammate Murali Vijay. During the Vijay Hazare Trophy clash in 2012, Karthik came to know about Nikita’s affair with Vijay. He was shocked to the core and immediately decided to part ways with her.
Reportedly, when the divorce procedure was on, Karthik learnt that Nikita was pregnant with Murali’s child. Even then, he remained silent and amicably parted ways with her not saying a word about Vijay and Nikita in public.
Soon after divorcing with Karthik, Nikita and Murali Vijay got married and welcomed their first child - Nirav in 2013. They further had two more children in their lives Eva and Aarav.
While things went well for Nikita, Karthik went into depression after the divorce with his friend and wife betraying him. His performance at the international level also declined and fitness also went down significantly. This led to his axing from the Indian team as well.
He was in a complete mess when his friend and mentor Abhishek Nayar met him and inspired him to restart his life afresh and the rest is history. Karthik is now living a happy life with Dipika and after retiring from Indian cricket, is currently playing in SA20 for Paarl Royals.
