Who is Shikhar Dhawan’s ex-wife Aesha Mukerji

Shikhar Dhawan announced retirement from international cricket in August last year. He last played for India back in 2022 and was not picked in any format since then in the national team. On the personal front, Dhawan got married to Aesha Mukerji in 2012 but their marriage didn’t last long. The couple got divorced in October 2023 as the court ruled Aesha’s behaviour impossible for the cricketer to sustain.

Aesha Mukerji was born in Kolkata to a Bengali father and a British mother. She is a former kickboxer as well and is obsessed with sports and fitness. Notably, Aesha’s marriage with Dhawan was her second as her first marriage with the Australian businessman didn’t work. She has two daughters from her first marriage. As for her second marriage, Aesha and Dhawan met on social media platform facebook and got engaged to each other in 2009 before getting married in 2012.

They had a low-key marriage in traditional Sikh style, however, the couple threw a grand reception which was attended by cricketers and celebrities. Dhawan and Aesha had a son together in 2014 whom they named Zoravar.

However, after a few years, the couple started facing difficulties with each other. They had disagreements about settling in India and things went too far at one stage. Eventually, they separated in 2021 and the court officially granted them the divorce in October 2023 on grounds of mental cruelty. She forced Dhawan into a long-distance marriage by living in Australia.

Moreover, Aesha had demanded permanent custody of son Zoravar. But the court denied the same even as allowing visitation rights to Dhawan to meet his son in India and Australia. Shikhar has repeatedly expressed his disappointment on social media of not being able to meet his son.

In fact, the cricketer also hoped that his international retirement news reaches his son through social media. Meanwhile, Dhawan currently stays in India and visits his son whenever he wishes to in Australia. He is also playing in different T20 leagues nowadays after retiring from all cricket in India.
