What did Harmanpreet Kaur, Sneh Rana & Smriti Mandhana say after lifting the tri-series title vs Sri Lanka?

Team India Women, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, secured a 97-run win in the tri-series final against Sri Lanka Women at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday, May 11.

Batting first, India Women dominated the proceedings. Smriti Mandhana was the star of the show, scoring 116 runs in 101 balls with 15 fours and two sixes. Team India posted a daunting total of 342/7 in 50 overs.

Later, Sri Lanka Women could score only 245 runs before getting bundled out in 48.2 overs. Sneh Rana continued her exceptional form with the ball, scalping a four-wicket haul.

Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur:

Proud of the entire team, especially the batters, we wanted to play good cricket, were looking to bat first if we win the toss and pretty happy with how we played. We can never stop improving, lots of areas where we can keep doing better, be it batting, bowling or fielding. Our pacers keep getting injured, that's something we need to keep care of, the coaches are working on it. Positives, the other batters except me and Smriti, the way they batted were pleasing. Sneh Rana with the ball, there were lots of positives. Enjoying the conditions here in Sri Lanka, we did struggle to get accustomed to the heat, but we then got used to it and it was nice to win this trophy.

Player of the tournament Sneh Rana:

I'm very pleased to have contributed to the team. I've practiced very hard and I'm grateful. The plan was simple, stick to off-pace and yorker deliveries, spoke with the bowling coach and that worked. Pretty confident about myself and the team, everyone is coming up and taking up the challenge.

Player of the match Smriti Mandhana:

I'm a reluctant talker. That's how we plan in ODIs, if you're batting first, you need to assess the conditions. They were very disciplined early on, we found a way later on to score runs. All the wickets were good batting wickets, high scoring games, not great to bowl, but I think our bowlers did a brilliant job.

Sri Lankan captain Chamari Athapaththu:

I have to credit the Indian team for today's performance. 300+ wasn't easy to chase, we did try hard, but we dropped chances and run-outs, the bowling unit struggled, these are the areas we need to improve ahead of the World Cup. We'll have to improve our fielding, throughout the tournament, we missed several chances. We need to get new fielding coaches. We need some power-hitters with the bat, we need to work on some areas ahead of the World Cup.
