Australia has already secured the Women’s Ashes series, maintaining an unbeaten streak by winning all five games so far. With victories in three ODIs and two T20Is, the Aussies have accumulated 10 points, making the remaining one T20I and the Test match a formality in terms of the series result.
England are yet to open their account despite putting up some fights in the recent games. However, excitement is building for the one-off Test, scheduled to take place from 30th January to 2nd February 2025 at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). This four-day pink-ball Test carries historic importance, as it will be the first women’s Test at the MCG since 1949.
It will also mark the 90th anniversary of the inaugural women’s Test series between Australia and England, held in 1934-35. Despite their dominance, Australia faces injury concerns heading into the final leg of the series. Skipper Alyssa Healy has been ruled out of the remaining T20Is due to a foot injury, leaving her availability for the Test match uncertain.
Similarly, star all-rounder Ashleigh Gardner, who missed the first two T20Is due to a minor calf strain, is under medical observation, with her participation in the last T20I and the Test to be decided closer to the match.
