The auction for the second edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) is all set to take place on Saturday (December 9). A total of 165 players from five franchises - Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, UP Warriorz, Gujarat Giants, and Royal Challengers Bangalore - will go under the hammer during the event in Mumbai. 

Team India vice-captain Smriti Mandhana was the most expensive player in the inaugural WPL season as she was acquired by Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs 3.40 crore. All the franchises announced their retained and released players list ahead of the auction and are now aiming to bring in the impactful players to form a formidable squad.

WPL 2024 Auction: Date, Time, Venue, Live-streaming, Live-telecast

December 9 Saturday in Mumbai. The auction might start around 2:30 pm IST. The exact time is yet to be announced. 

The auction is likely to be streamed live on the JioCinema app and website, and telecasted on Sports 18 Network channels.

Player auction list

Out of 165 players, 104 are Indians and 61 are overseas players (15 players are from associate nations). Total capped players 56 and uncapped players 109. A maximum of 30 slots are available with five teams, with 9 spots for foreign players. Each team is allowed to sign a minimum of 15 players and a maximum of 18 players and are allotted a purse value of INR 12 crore.
