WPL 2025: 3 players to watch out for in Gujarat Giants vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru match

The third season of the Women’s Premier League is right around the corner, starting February 14. The season's inaugural match is set to be played between Gujarat Giants and Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara.

Bengaluru had a decent first season, but it failed to qualify for the next rounds. The last season was where they turned things around as they not just qualified but went on to win the tournament as well. Gujarat, on the other hand, has not been up to the mark in both seasons, failing to qualify in either of them.

The contest between the two sides is going to be pretty interesting as Bangalore would be looking to defend their title while Gujarat would be finally looking to turn their tides. Let us take a look at three players who might heat up the game.

1. Ellyse Perry

The leading run-scorer of the previous season, Perry is the ultimate all-rounder who can glam up the game with her flair with the bat as well as the ball. A scintillating previous season, she scored 347 runs in nine games while also having picked up seven wickets with the ball.

2. Beth Mooney

The Australian wicketkeeper-batter was absolutely fabulous for Gujarat last season. While leading the side, she garnered 285 runs with an average of 47.50 and a strike rate of 139 in nine games. Although she has been removed from her leadership duties, it would be interesting to see her performance this season as she might bat even more freely and aggressively.

3. Shreyanka Patil

This youngster shook the tournament with her performances as she scalped 13 wickets in just eight matches with an economy of just 7.30 in the last season. She could be the reason behind the turn-around of the Bangalore team in 2024 and would be hoping that she has another terrific season here.
