Star Indian batter Rinku Singh is currently in action for his state team Uttar Pradesh in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023. He stunned everyone with his sensational batting performance in the ongoing first quarter-final of the tournament against Punjab. Notably, Both teams are playing this match at the PCA IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali.

The host skipper Mandeep Singh won the toss and asked UP to bat first. Batting first, Uttar Pradesh had scored 120 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in 18 overs but then came a swashbuckling batting heroics by Rinku Singh. He came to bat at number 5 for his side and he was playing on the score of 38 runs off 21 balls at the end of the 18th over.

Later in the 19th and 20th over, the 26-year-old went on to smash 49 runs off just the next 12 balls and ended up going unbeaten on the score of 77 runs off just 33 balls, hitting 4 fours and 6 sixes. On the back of his blistering knock, alongside Sameer Rizvi’s 42 runs off just 29 balls with four and 4 sixes, UP scored 169 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Uttar Pradesh bowlers dominate Punjab in the first quarter-final 

Siddharth Kaul and Harpreet Brar scalped one wicket each for Punjab, including Nitish Rana’s run-out.

While chasing the target, Punjab are looking in trouble as they have scored only 71 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in 11 overs with a run rate of 6.45. Middle-order batters, Anmolpreet Singh and Nehal Wadhera are there in the middle on the individual scores of 34 and 19 runs, respectively.

The veteran Uttar Pradesh pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar has bowled brilliantly and has scalped 2 wickets at the cost of just 3 runs in his 2 overs so far with an outstanding economy rate of 1.50.
