Yograj Singh slams Indian head coach critics

Former Indian pacer Yograj Singh has stated that the Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir shouldn’t receive any unfair criticism, as he is one of the former cricketers who is giving back to the sport because the game has given them a lot during their playing days.

It’s important to note that Gambhir was at the receiving end after India lost the Leeds Test despite being in the driver’s seat for the major part of the game. However, India, led by Shubman Gill, made a strong comeback in the second Test to win by 336 runs and level the series 1-1.

“You may have noticed that Indian players are growing and playing well. Players should never be abused, like, remove him, why was he taken, he doesn't deserve it, nothing should be said to the player,” Yograj said in an interview with ANI.

“Nothing should be said about Gautam Gambhir. He is doing very well. Yuvraj Singh, Gautam Gambhir, and Rahul Dravid are some of the people who are giving back to the cricket of India because cricket has given them a lot,” he added.

Instead, Yograj stated that wins and losses are part and parcel of the game. He asserted that the players and support staff are giving their best on the field, and they deserve support from fans during their tough time.

“So I think if we have everyone's support and if we lose the series, then at least you should write that the kids played very well, it's okay, friend, wins and losses keep happening, but we cannot tolerate defeat. If you lose, you will not be there, then explain, if you win, you don't have to explain, it is a simple thing,” he stated.

Furthermore, Yograj heaped praise on the Indian Test captain Gill, who scored three centuries in four innings in the ongoing England tour. Moreover, he predicted India to win the series under the leadership of Gill.

“There is a long way to go. I liked Shubman Gill's statement that yes, I will try to play like this. The team is playing very well, everyone appreciated it a lot, and we will win the series,” he said.

“God willing, under the captaincy of Shubman Gill, India will win the series,” he concluded.
