Mumbai Indians opening batter Rohit Sharma finally found his lost form, against the Chennai Super Kings in the 38th match of the IPL 2025 season, with a 76-run unbeaten knock off 45 balls with four fours and six sixes.
Thanks to Rohit Sharma's impressive knock, the Mumbai Indians bagged a nine-wicket comfortable win over the CSK franchise to settle scores. With this win, the Hardik Pandya-led MI side moved up to the sixth spot in the standings.
Rohit’s unbeaten 76 has also propelled him to bag the player of the match award after a long time. After the victory, skipper Hardik Pandya hailed the opener for his excellent knock right from the initial overs to the finish.
“You don't have to worry about Rohit's form. He's going to come good like this. We knew when he comes good, the opposition will be out. SKY complimented him,” Hardik said in the post-match presentation ceremony.
While Ryan Rickelton could score only 24 runs in 19 balls with three fours and a six, No.3 batter Suryakumar Yadav smacked 68* in 30 balls with six fours and five sixes, complementing Rohit from the other side. Hardik hailed all players for stepping up against CSK.
“People are stepping up. We have been sticking to the basics. Percentage cricket is high, we are not trying magical stuff and sticking to simple cricket. Knew they were behind the game and wanted to keep it tight,” Hardik said.
“The fast bowlers went for runs and we knew 175 was below par. We were not far from a good game. We had to figure out about closing the couple of balls that were costing us games,” Hardik concluded.
Mumbai Indians will next take on the Sunrisers Hyderabad, led by Pat Cummins, at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Wednesday, April 23.
