The Zimbabwe Cricket team and its fans had a huge heartbreak on Thursday. Sikandar Raza and his team were knocked out of contention after Uganda beat Rwanda to claim the 2nd place in the table.

Namibia had already become the first team to qualify for the 2024 T20 World Cup from the African region. It was widely believed that Zimbabwe would qualify for the next phase but their shock loss to Uganda put a spanner in their works.

It was a massive day of elation for the Uganda Cricket Team as they solidified their 2nd spot in the table in the African region for the 2024 T20 World Cup qualification. Rwanda was all out for just 65 runs and Uganda knocked off the target in the 9th over to seal an epic and historic moment.

The defeat left Zimbabwe deflated as they were knocked out of contention for a place in the 2024 T20 World Cup qualifications. Zimbabwe needed Rwanda to beat Uganda to take the 2nd spot in the qualifiers for the African region on Thursday.

Sikandar Raza and his men were playing against Kenya and put up a huge 217-run total on the board. Despite their best efforts, Zimbabwe will not be travelling to the West Indies and the United States of America next year.

Zimbabwe had begun the tournament with a 7-wicket loss to Namibia. This was followed by a comprehensive 9-wicket win over Tanzania. The biggest shock came when Uganda beat Zimbabwe by 5 wickets to leave Sikandar Raza and his men struggling.

Kenya lost their final of the tournament to Zimbabwe by 110 runs when they were bowled out for 107 in chase of the 218-run target in front of them. Sikandar Raza top scored with 82, while Sean Williams scored 60 runs to help their side to score 217 runs. Irfan Karim was the top scorer for Kenya with 35 as they were bowled in the 20th over to lose the game.
