Zimbabwe vs New Zealand Test series 2025: Full schedule, timings, squads and live streaming details

Zimbabwe and New Zealand are currently involved in the ongoing ZIM T20 Tri-Series 2025 in Harare. While New Zealand have already secured a place in the final, the home team has been knocked out of the race. However, these two sides are scheduled to play a two-match Test series in Zimbabwe right after this tournament.

The Test series will begin on 30 July 2025, with both matches set to be played at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo.

Zimbabwe have a tough task ahead, as they have never beaten New Zealand in Test cricket. Out of the 17 Tests played between the two, Zimbabwe have drawn six and lost eleven. The last time these two teams met in the longest format was back in 2016, when New Zealand toured Zimbabwe and won the two-match series 2-0.

Meanwhile, the visitors will still miss some of their key names. Kane Williamson and Michael Bracewell are not part of the squad. “Kane and Michael were up front with New Zealand Cricket about their availability for this tour during the contracting process,” said head coach Rob Walter, clarifying their absence. 

In addition, Ben Sears is unavailable due to a side strain, and Kyle Jamieson has opted to stay back in New Zealand for the birth of his first child.

On the Zimbabwean side, all eyes will be on Brendan Taylor. The veteran batter’s three-and-a-half-year ban for breaching the ICC’s anti-corruption code ends on 25 July. He has now been named in the Test squad and will be available for selection in the first Test starting on 30 July.
