In what comes as tragic news, Cristiano Ronaldo and his partner Georgina Rodriguez's newborn son passed away. The football star announced took to social media to announce the same on Monday. In October, the Manchester United and Portugal player said that he and Rodriguez were expecting twins. They announced they were expecting a boy and a girl in December.
"It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that our baby boy has passed away. It is the greatest pain that any parents can feel," Ronaldo and Rodriguez wrote in the announcement.
Fortunately, their newborn daughter is safe. The footballer wrote that her birth is the only thing that gives their family strength. He also thanked the medical staff that supported them in this tragic time. He also expected some privacy while they grieve.
"Only the birth of our baby girl gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness. We would like to thank the doctors and nurses for all their expert care and support. We are all devastated at this loss and we kindly ask for privacy at this very difficult time," the couple said.
"Our baby boy, you are our angel. We will always love you," Ronaldo and Rodriguez concluded.

The English Premier League's official Twitter handle also expressed its condolences to the family. "The thoughts and condolences of everyone at the Premier League are with you and your family, Cristiano," it read.
Alana Martina, Ronaldo's first child with Rodriguez, was born in November 2017. The legendary football athlete is also the father of twin girls Eva and Mateo, whom he welcomed in June 2017 through surrogacy. As for Cristiano Jr, he is Ronaldo's kid with a past girlfriend who has never been publically named.
