Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders crossed swords with each other in the 61st match of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League 2023. Both teams played this match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The hosts’ skipper MS Dhoni had the upper hand at the time of the toss and decided to bat first.

Batting first, CSK could manage to post an average total of 144 runs for the loss of six wickets in the first innings. Later on, the Nitish Rana-led KKR comfortably chased down the target and won the match by a good margin of six wickets to gain two more points keeping their hopes alive in the contention for the playoffs race in the current season of the tournament.

Talking about the entire action of the game between CSK and KKR, the former batted first and it was only Shivam Dube who managed to play a struggling knock of 48 runs with a boundary and three sixes to his name. Other than him, the senior opener Devon Conway and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja scored 30 and 20 runs respectively. On the back of these knocks, CSK managed to get an average total of 144 runs for the loss of six wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

While chasing the target, the amazing 99-run partnership for the fourth wicket between skipper Nitish Rana and the star batting sensation Rinku Singh played a vital role in KKR’s win. Rinku scored 54 runs with four boundaries and three sixes with the wood followed by an unbeaten knock of 57 runs with six fours and a six by the skipper Rana. Riding on these two knocks, the visitors comfortably crossed the finishing line in 18.3 overs and scored 147 runs for the loss of four wickets to win the match by six wickets.
