Suresh Raina is going to turn out for the Chennai Super Kings in the upcoming 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League. The batsman was not a part of the last edition. He pulled out of the tournament after citing personal reasons. The southpaw returned home after several CSK teammates tested positive for COVID-19.

Before the league's commencement, reports of his dispute with the CSK team management over the hotel rooms also emerged. The franchise also removed Raina's name from the official website. Thus, this raised doubts over his participation for them in the upcoming season.

Suresh Raina to continue with Chennai Super Kings

CSK top official clearly stated that the team have no plans of parting ways with the batsman. Raina will remain in the group.

Raina has been a crucial part of the franchise since the inaugural edition in 2008. The 34-year-old is their leading run-scorer with 4427 runs so far. Raina is also the second-highest run-scorer in the history of the IPL after Virat Kohli. Virat has scored 5,878 runs in 192 games for the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

The left-hander recently announced his retirement from all forms of cricket in August.  He is CSK’s most determined batsman in the number-three slot. The batsman has played several brilliant match-winning knocks for the Dhoni-led side.

In the just-concluded IPL season, CSK felt his absence badly as their batting line-up lacked the spark. The yellow army was the first team to be out of the tournament. However, the men in yellow won their last three league games, but it was too late for them to remain in the game.

Suresh Raina found himself in trouble after being arrested from a Mumbai night club. He was arrested along with other celebrities for breaking COVID-19 rules. Raina said that he was not aware of the guidelines set by the Maharashtra government.

Based on this issue, the CSK official said it has nothing to do with his future franchise. The management knows about the arrest, and our plans have nothing to do with that development. The officials concluded by saying that Raina will continue to be with them.

Overall, Raina is the second-highest run-getter in IPL with 5368 in 193 games. He was also the captain of Gujarat Lions in the 2016 and 2017 seasons.
