On Monday, October 10, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) reprimanded five cricketers, Jack Brooks, Andrew Gale, Evelyn Jones, Azeem Rafiq, and Danielle Wyatt, for historical posts on social media platforms.

The cricketers, on the other hand, will face no further punishment after Cricket Discipline Commission adjudicator Chris Tickle reprimanded them. The five players admitted breaching ECB directive 3.3, which mentions, "no such person may conduct themself in a manner or do any act or omission which may be prejudicial to the interests of cricket or which may bring the game of cricket or any cricketer or group of cricketers into disrepute".

Wyatt, an England veteran in women's cricket, and Jones, who has competed in the Women's Hundred and Women's Big Bash League (WBBL), both admitted to violating ECB Directive 3.4. "Each participant is bound by and must comply with the ECB Anti-Discrimination Code," states ECB's derivative 3.4.

Wyatt and Jones were charged in 2013 for their 'blackface' Instagram post. The ECB determined that all five cricketers' posts were racist. Yorkshire coach Gale, a former left-handed batter, and Rafiq, who was in the spotlight for 'institutional racism' in the same county team, were both chastised for anti-Semitic tweets on Twitter and Facebook.

Brooks, an all-rounder for Somerset, was chastised for a tweet directed at former cricketer Stewart Laudat and current English fast bowler Tymal Mills. Racist language was used in the tweets. The ECB also suspended bowling all-rounder Ollie Robinson last year after his old tweets were discovered to be Islamophobic and sexist. Robinson, on the other hand, returned to play for the English team.

In the meantime, England Men's team is currently playing a bilateral T20I series against Australia. They are preparing for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022, which begins on the 16th of October.
