Australian opening batsman David Warner was left out of the Sunrisers Hyderabad playing XI for their match against Rajasthan Royals. SRH coach Trevor Bayliss claimed that David Warner’s comeback into the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) team might not happen anytime soon. Stating that they wanted more bowlers in the team, Bayliss stated that the SRH team management had preferred to go in with Mohammed Nabi in the encounter against Rajasthan Royals. The coach also reasoned that Jason Holder will help to bolster the bowling unit as well. Bayliss even went on to state that the team is going to stick with the same playing XI for the next few games as well.
SRH is struggling at the bottom of the points table after just one victory in their first six matches
A day after losing the captaincy of SRH, David Warner was dropped from playing XI against Rajasthan Royals on Sunday. The side will now seek to revive their Indian Premier League (IPL) campaign under Kane Williamson. SRH is struggling at the bottom of the points table after just one victory in their first six matches. He replaced Australian batsman David Warner who led Hyderabad to their maiden IPL title back in 2016. Instead of Warner, SRH decided to rope in Afghan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi as the fourth overseas player in the playing XI. The other three players include Englishman Jonny Bairstow, Afghan spinner Rashid Khan and Kane Williamson.
Last year, the Sunrisers finished third in the IPL 2020 points table. After enduring a slow start, the Hyderabad-based franchise won four of their last five matches to secure their place in the playoffs. However, they were defeated by Delhi Capitals. David Warner has been the backbone of SRH over the years, and the last IPL season in UAE was no different. The Australian batsman finished as the third-highest run-getter, scoring 548 runs in 16 matches. The southpaw averaged 39.14 while batting at a strike rate of 134.64. The 34-year-old also registered four half-centuries.
Sunrisers Hyderabad has once again backed their core bunch of players in IPL 2021. The side has not made too many changes to their roster. They were also conservative at the mini-auction earlier this year, bringing in only three new players. Their most expensive buy at the auction turned out to be Kedar Jadhav, who has signed at his base price of INR 2 crore. David Warner guided SRH to the IPL title in 2016.
