Australia are currently busy playing the Boxing Day Test against the Proteas at the MCG. It is the second match of the three-match Test series. After winning the first game with ease, the home side were looking to seal the series by winning this MCG clash. However, Mitchell Starc had an impressive start to the series.
He took five wickets in two innings of the first game. Speaking of the second match, Australia won the toss and opted to field first. However, they got bundled out for just 189 runs in 68.4 overs. Mitchell Starc took two wickets for 39 runs in 13 overs. But, on day one of the second match, he suffered a finger injury. Now, reports have come out that he is going to miss the upcoming third Test in Sydney.
Mitchell Starc batted and came out to bowl despite having the finger injury
Even, he will find it tough to get recovered before the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in India in February. Regarding that matter, Australian head coach Andrew McDonald provides an update before the play of day three. During an interview with SEN Test Cricket, McDonald said: “He’ll play a role with bat and ball over the course of the game. He’ll be limited and his capabilities won't be as full as he would like, but he’ll be able to do a role for us this morning. That’s a positive sign this morning.”
However, Starc showed great character when he came out to bat on day three. He scored 10* runs off 12 balls, including one six. Australia declared their first innings after scoring 575 runs for eight wickets. Thus, they took a huge lead of 386 runs. Then, fans were having doubts to see him bowling in the following innings. But, Starc showed great courage once again as he started bowling. He was seen with blood on his pants and some images now have gone viral where the finger injury was seen properly. As of now, he has bowled four overs where Starch has conceded 13 runs.

Unlike other players who play league's get's #injuries & skip most of the #International games with injuries, He is Someone who don't bother about the money from #league's but do his best to be fit to play for the #Nation & Gives his #best even when he is injury pic.twitter.com/dKoME3WTN4

I say it again... There's no player in cricket who is as dedicated as Mitchell Starc... No one comes close to him... Sheer Respect and yet few individuals I know who judged him to be dropped from test squad and T2OI squad and keep on saying he isn't like before https://t.co/BWkCVBkW1C
