The action returned in the sixteenth edition of the Indian Premier League with a doubleheader on Sunday. The first game of the day pit Chennai Super Kings against the Punjab Kings at the iconic Chepauk in Chennai. At the same time, the second game of the day will see Mumbai Indians host Rajasthan Royals at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Talking of the first game, Chennai Super Kings won the toss and decided to bat first in front of their home crowd. Batting on a familiar surface, the Super Kings went off to a great start with the opening partnership between Ruturaj Gaikwad (37 off 31) and Devon Conway (92 off 52) yielding 86 runs. Shivam Dube added another handy 28 runs off 17 balls, and MS Dhoni finished in style with two consecutive sixes of the last two balls to take CSK's total to 200 runs.

Chennai Super Kings closed out at 200/4 in 20 overs

There was not much to speak about for Punjab Kings in their bowling display. Arshdeep Singh, Sikander Raza, Sam Curran and Rahul Chahar joined the party to take one wicket each. Before the start of the game, Shikhar Dhawan was all praises about MS Dhoni, the former captain of India that he played with. Shikhar Dhawan said, "MS Dhoni is an incredible leader, everyone knows that. And as a person also, he's a gem of a guy" while talking to IPL broadcaster Star. Dhawan's statement has naturally sparked reactions among fans on social media.

Dhoni didn't advance in the order against Rajasthan Royals, despite CSK needing steady boundaries to chase down a 203-run total in Jaipur. As the CSK captain was not allowed to bat, the team lost 32 runs. Sanjay Manjrekar, a former cricketer for India, disagrees with those who claim that Dhoni should have batted and thinks the wicketkeeper-batter is aware of his "limitations."

"MS Dhoni is a clever cricketer. He knows his limitations. We are seeing a new avatar of him this season. Earlier, he used to manage the team; this year, he's also managing himself," Manjrekar told Star Sports.
