The Indian Cricket Board unveiled the new jersey for the Men in Blue for the upcoming 20-20 World Cup in Australia. The striking new jersey is a new take on India’s 20-20 World Cup winning jersey from 2007 with some added features.

The lighter shade is a departure from the jerseys of the recent past but it still retains the darker shade of blue on the sleeves. The announcement was made by the Indian Cricket Board on Sunday with a Twitter post. The post was captioned, “To every cricket fan out there, this one’s for you.”

“Presenting the all-new T20 Jersey- One Blue Jersey by MPL Sport #HarFanKiJersey”

With it accompanied an image of Rohit Sharma leading other five players from the Indian men’s and women’s teams. Hardik Pandya and Harmanpreet Kaur flanked the Indian Men’s skipper on either side with Suryakumar Yadav, Shafali Verma and Renuka Singh joining at the back.

While the post garnered massive attention, fans soon started to talk about the absence of Virat Kohli from the picture. Anger from Kohli fans soon started to crop up in numbers. Fans pointed out Kohli’s absence and said that he was not included because of a rift between him and Rohit. Many fans were also unimpressed with the new jersey design and called it ugly. India will wear the new jersey on September 20th for the first time in the first match of the India- Australia T20I series at Mohali.
