In what seems to be a big shock for Indian sports, the National level Kabaddi Player has accused her coach of sexual assault, extortion, and blackmail during her playing days. Subsequently, Delhi Police have registered an FIR against the accused coach Joginder. The 27-year-old player said in her complaint that the accused made the sexual relations without consent and then blackmailed her to reveal the private pictures.

Later on, the player also stated that the coach extorted her with a demand of money from the prize money of tournaments she won at that time.

“I was preparing for the kabaddi competition in Hirankudna near Mundka in West Delhi since 2012, and the coach ‘made sexual relations with me without my consent’ in March 2015. He also asked me to give him a part of my earnings from a competition I won in 2018,” said the victim in her statement to the police

“The suspect had an academy where she came in contact with him,” said a senior police official.

“She further stated that in 2018, the accused coach forced her to give him a part of the prize money. Later in the year 2021, she got married and the accused started blackmailing her with a threat of leaking the private photographs,” the official added later.

Notably, the victim Kabaddi player transferred an amount of INR 43.5 lakh to Coach’s bank account.

Female wrestlers also accused federations officials of sexual assault during a protest

Earlier in January, a few of the renowned wrestling stars of India including the likes of Vinesh Phogat, Sakshee Malik, and Bajrang Punia protested against the president of the wrestling federation and the management of the federation. The female wrestlers also accused the president and coaches of sexual assault.

Furthermore, police registered complaints under the 376(rape_ and 506(criminal intimidation) sections of the Indian Penal Code against the accused officials.
