On June 15, the BCCI announced the 17-member squad for the tour of Ireland where India will play two T20Is. All-rounder Hardik Pandya has been named the skipper of the team. On the other hand, Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been named the vice-captain. Just like the ongoing series against South Africa, the squad for the two-match T20I series against Ireland features several new faces. The senior players will play in the England tour which will take place next month.

Rishabh Pant, who is leading the Men In Blue for the ongoing series against the Proteas, will fly to the UK. Suryakumar Yadav, who missed out on the last few games of the Indian T20 League 2022 and the ongoing home series, has made his comeback. However, the inclusion of Rahul Tripathi and Sanju Samson managed to put a smile on the face of all the Indian fans. The selectors were under severe criticism from the netizens after the duo was ignored for the South Africa series.

Both had done well with the bat for their respective sides in the 15th season of the cash-rich league. Tripathi amassed 413 runs in 14 games at an average of 37.55 and a strike rate of 158.24. On the other hand, Samson scored 458 runs in 17 games at an average of 28.63 and a strike rate of 146.79. Apart from them, no changes have been made in the team which is playing currently. Ishan Kishan has been named as well. He has been in superb form of late.

Ruturaj Gaikwad, who recently scored his maiden fifty after failing in the first two games, has also been given another opportunity. Players such as Venkatesh Iyer, Ravi Bishnoi, Umran Malik, Arshdeep Singh, and Deepak Hooda have warmed the bench in the ongoing series, but still made it to the team. Dinesh Karthik, who made his international comeback in the series has also been considered.
