Padikkal has become the third batsman after legendary batsman Kumar Sangakkara and South Africa's Alviro Peterson to score four successive tons in List A cricket. Sangakkara had smashed four tons on the trot during the 2015 World Cup. Alviro Peterson achieved the milestone during Momentum One Day Cup 2015/16.

After slamming 145 runs against Railways in the last stage group game for Karnataka, Padikkal scored a century against Kerala. Earlier in the tournament, the southpaw had scored 152 against Odisha and an unbeaten 126* against Kerala.

Along with captain Ravikumar Samarth (192), Padikkal sent Kerala fielders on a leather hunt as the opening duo accumulated 249 runs in 42.4 overs. Padikkal scored 101 runs off 119 balls. His brilliant innings was studded with ten fours and two sixes. At the end of 50 overs, Karnataka put a massive target of 338 runs on board.

Padikkal had a remarkable IPL debut in 2020. He scored 473 runs in 14 games. The young opening batsman scored five fifties in his debut season for Royal Challengers Bangalore. After Vijay Hazare Trophy's conclusion, the Karnataka batsman will be seen in the forthcoming Indian Premier League 2021. The Bangalore based franchise will take on Mumbai Indians in the tournament opener on April 9 in Chennai.
