In his short career, Dewald Brevis has already managed to impress the pundits and experts. He first caught everyone's attention in the recently concluded U-19 World Cup. Because of similarities in his playing style with AB de Villiers, he came to be known as 'Baby AB' or 'AB 2.0'.  Post that, Mumbai purchased him for the Indian T20 League 2022. They paid an amusing price of three crores for him at the mega auction.

According to a report by InsideSport, Brevis could be under the radar of the selectors for the South Africa senior team's tour to India. The Proteas are all set to tour India for a five-match T20 series. This bilateral series will be crucial in the build-up to the 20-20 World Cup, which will be held in Australia later this year. Brevis has also been mentioned as a possible candidate for the 20-20 World Cup.

The 18-year got a chance to star in the playing XI for Mumbai in the ongoing 2022 season. He then never looked back after that as he displayed some quality knocks for the most successful franchise of the tournament. His aggressive intent was praised by several experts and analysts. In the six matches that he has played so far, the batter has scored 124 runs at a strike rate of 155. In the game against Punjab, he played some attractive shots, and looked threatening to say the least. He scored 49 runs in that match.

Meanwhile, Mumbai havs struggled in the Indian T20 League 2022. They have won just one out of their nine games so far this season. They are placed at the bottom of the points table.

As for Brevis, his breakthrough U-19 World Cup saw him score 506 runs in six innings, including two centuries. He was the top run-scorer of the season. He had scores of 65 against India, 104 against Uganda, 96 against Ireland, 97 against England, six against Sri Lanka, and 138 against Bangladesh.
