Former Indian batsman VVS Laxman stated that AB de Villiers and Shikhar Dhawan have been outstanding in the ongoing 14th IPL season. The veteran believes that opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan’s batting exploits with Delhi Capitals (DC) remind him of the left-hander’s Under-19 days. He added that he used to be aggressive and fearless.

AB De Villiers and Shikhar Dhawan are currently the top two run-scorers in IPL 2021. Shikhar Dhawan currently holds the Orange Cap in IPL 2021. He has scored 186 runs from three games at an average of 62 and a strike rate of 163.2. The India opening batsman was awarded the Player of the Match in both the matches DC have won this season. Despite a healthy competition for places in the Indian T20I squad, Shikhar Dhawan has made a strong claim for the opener’s slot for the forthcoming T20 World Cup scheduled later this year in India.

On the other hand, Royal Challengers Bangalore star batsman is fifth in the list with 125 runs so far. The 37-year-old has scored 125 runs in the first three matches and has a strike rate of 189.39. It is the best among the top 10 run-getters in the league so far. Notably, no other player has struck at even 180; forget coming close to him. VVS Laxman has been astonished by ABD’s exploits. The former stated that the RCB wicket-keeper batsman has the ability to surprise even when you think you have seen it all.
