In the 37th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, Rajasthan Royals (RR) hosted Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Thursday. It was Sanju Samson-led RR who emerged victorious against Yellow Army for the second time this season, winning by 32 runs.

Yashasvi Jaiswal smashed a half-century off only 26 balls as Rajasthan Royals dominated the powerplay. Jos Buttler decided to act as Jaiswal's anchor during the powerplay, which led to them scoring 64 runs. Soon after, Buttler collapsed, followed by captain Sanju Samson. Rajasthan had difficulty scoring at the precise same pace as managed for the first 15 overs when Jaiswal's innings finally ended on 77 off 43 balls.

Devdutt Padikkal with Dhruv Jurel provided RR a strong finish, elevating their team to a score of 202/5, therefore it was only a brief situation. As RR amassed an overall total of 63 runs during the final five overs, the partnership racked up 48 runs from 20 balls in the fifth wicket.

Spinners seal the deal for RR

Chennai Super Kings started off on a slow note and wanted to keep wickets right till the end. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway were about to get another 50-run partnership under their belt before the latter was dismissed. Rajasthan were getting a grip on the game and took three quick wickets to reduce the visitors to 73-4.

Ashwin and Adam Zampa were the most lethal bowlers for the hosts as they were able to rip through the Chennai batters and were not allowing them to settle at the crease. A partnership brewed between Shivam Dube and Moeen Ali before the latter was dismissed by Zampa. Chennai looked in a precarious position with five wickets down and 74 runs required from the last four overs. In the end, Chennai lost the game by 32 runs as they were not able to muster the runs in the middle overs and were behind the required run rate at all times.
