When they defeated MS Dhoni's team by 32 runs earlier this week in Jaipur, the Rajasthan Royals completed a double on the Chennai Super Kings. The Rajasthan Royals, who had previously handed the Chennai Super Kings a tight three-win loss in their match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, put on an even better display on Wednesday night. Batting first, they made 202/5 in 20 overs and bowled brilliantly to hold the CSK to 170/6.
Before receiving a late lift from Dhruv Jurel (34 off 15 balls) and Devdutt Padikkal (27* off 13 balls), the Royals did experience a few snags in the middle overs of their batting innings. After being struck directly by MS Dhoni in the game's final over, Jurel was eventually run out.
Dhruv Jurel is enjoying a stellar debut season in IPL 2023
While Dhoni's successful throw gained much attention on social media, Jurel's response to getting out after taking a direct hit from the illustrious wicketkeeper-batter has now captured the audience's hearts. Jurel discussed the toss that terminated his time at the crease in a video that Rajasthan Royals put on their official YouTube channel. He said it was a memory that would stick with him for a very long time.
"When I will have a look a at the scorecard after 20 years, and when it says that Dhoni sir ran me out, I will feel very proud. My name would be up there, and next to it would be Dhoni sir's name. And that's enough for me!" Jurel said.
Jurel, who built his name for hitting for power in RR's lower-middle order, is having a fantastic first season in the sixteenth season of the Indian Premier League. At a stellar strike rate of 196.97, Jurel has scored 130 runs in seven games while remaining unbeaten in three. Eighty-eight of Jurel's 130 runs have come in boundaries (10 fours, 8 sixes).
At the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, the Rajasthan Royals will resume play against the Mumbai Indians on Sunday night.
