Dhoni's assessment of the pitch helped CSK once again: Daniel Vettori

Former New Zealand skipper Daniel Vettori praised MS Dhoni's assessment of the pitch that helped the team win against Sunrisers Hyderabad. SRH had won the toss and elected to bat first. David Warner and the team posted a fighting total of 171 runs. However, the Orange Army failed to defend it at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. At the toss, MS Dhoni was questioned if he was happy to bowl first, and the CSK captain insisted that he would have also opted to bowl if he had won the toss. Dhoni reckoned that the pitch was tacky, and dew will definitely come into play in the second innings, making chasing a viable option for the Yellow Army.

David Warner played out 55 deliveries for his 57 with a strike rate of just over 103. The SRH captain reckoned that his slow innings were one of the main reasons behind their loss against CSK. Dhoni's prediction on the dew did not come true, but batters found it difficult to play on the surface in the first half of the game. SRH imposed 171 for 3 wickets to some late hitting by Manish Pandey, Kane Williamson (26 not out), and Kedar Jadhav (14*).

Chennai Super Kings will next face Mumbai Indians on Saturday

During Chennai's chase, the pitch eased out and turned out well for batting. CSK opening batsman Faf du Plessis and Ruturaj Gaikwad laid a solid foundation with their 129-run stand. After their dismissal, Moeen Ali, Ravindra Jadeja, and Suresh Raina got the team over the line with 9 balls to spare. Chennai Super Kings will next face Mumbai Indians on Saturday. 

After defeating the Rajasthan Royals, MI will be eager to continue its winning momentum in the ongoing season. They will next face the Chennai Super Kings at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday. The two IPL franchises met in the opening match of the last season, where the CSK beat their rivals by five wickets. However, the Mumbai Indians avenged that loss later by defeating the yellow army by ten wickets. Mumbai and Chennai have been two of the most dominant franchises in the IPL. The last four IPL seasons have concluded with either MI or CSK winning the tournament. Even in the ongoing IPL season, both teams are currently in the top-4 of the points table. The forthcoming IPL battle between CSK and MI will definitely be a thrilling encounter.
