The World Cup-winning Pakistan captain, Imran Khan, turned into a politician post-retirement, and was elected as the Prime Minister for the nation in 2018. He was a great leader when he played for Pakistan and had many achievements under his belt. The country expected same leadership from him while at the helm of the country. However, a comment made by him has left his supporters disappointed. Inflation is one of the prime concerns of the general public and PM Imran Khan made a shocking statement on the same.
As quoted by Sports Tiger, Imran Khan said that he didn't join politics to manage the prices of 'aloo and tamatar', adding that he is working towards the betterment of youth. He said that the nation will break record-breaking developments in the coming years.
"I didn't join politics to know the prices of potatoes and tomatoes. I joined it for the sake of the country's youth... This country will break records in terms of development in the next one-and-a-half years," he was quoted by Sports Tiger.
"If we want to become a great nation, we will have to support the truth, and this is what I have been preaching for the last 25 years," he further added.
The Pakistan Prime Minister's remarks in not going down well with the people of the country who have been struggling with inflation and unemployment since August 2019. Khan's comments come days after the country's opposition parties filed a no-confidence vote against him in the National Assembly.
Former cricketer, Imran Khan had a great run with the team as a player and as a captain. Khan got 3807 runs in 88 Tests, with an average of 37.69. With the ball in hand, Khan inspired many young bowlers, amassing 362 Test wickets at an average of 22.81. He had a stellar run with the ODI team as well and led them to a win in 1992 World Cup.
