Former Indian skipper and batting superstar, Virat Kohli scored a Test half-century after a long time; this knock by Kohli has come in the ongoing fourth and last of the four-match Test series against Australia. Kohli arrived in the middle to bat after the dismissal of Gill on team’s score of 245 runs.

A section of the Indian cricket fans and ardent Virat Kohli fans took to Twitter to react to Kohli’s half-century; they praised the 34-year-old and also hoped for a century by him in this all-important ongoing last Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia.

Here’s how fans reacted to the half-century of Virat Kohli after 14 months in red-ball cricket:

Speaking of the current action of the match, India have scored 286 runs for the loss of three wickets in 97.3 overs; having Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja there in the middle. Shubman Gill scored a brilliant century and played the knock of 128 runs off 235 balls with 12 boundaries and a six to his name. Other than him the senior batter Cheteshwar Pujara also contributed with an individual score of 42 runs with three boundaries.

Earlier in the morning, skipper Rohit Sharma fell prey to Matthew Kuhnemann on the individual score of 35 runs with three boundaries and a six with the wood.

Notably, Australia had posted a big total of 480 runs in the first innings; courtesy of Usman Khawaja’s remarkable knock of 180 runs off 422 balls with 21 boundaries. He also stitched an amazing 208-run partnership for the fifth wicket with the young batting star Cameron Green. The latter also smashed the century and scored 114 runs with 18 boundaries on her credit.

Currently, the hosts India are leading the series by a margin of 2-1 in the four-match Test series as they lost the Indore Test by 9 wickets against the visitors.
