Senior Indian women’s team started their campaign with a seven-wicket win against Pakistan Women’s team in their tournament opener in the ongoing Women’s 20-20 World Cup. The Pak skipper Bismah Maroof won the toss and decided to bat first at the Newlands in Cape Town. Batting first, Pakistan posted a decent total of 149 runs for the loss of wickets courtesy of an unbeaten 81-run partnership between skipper Bismah Maroof and middle-order batter Ayesha Naseem.
But apart from the action of the match and brilliant cricket from both the teams, there was something else that won the hearts of the cricket fans. It all happened when players of both teams interacted with each other in the locker room in the aftermath of the match.

Speaking of the action of the 4th match between the women in green and Harmanpreet & co., the Pak skipper Bismah Maroof played a brilliant knock of 68 runs off 55 balls with seven boundaries. Ayesha Naseem accompanied her skipper with a dashing knock of 43 runs off just 25 balls with two boundaries and two sixes.
While chasing the target of 150 runs in 20 overs, the opening pair of Yastika Bhatia and Shafali Verma provided a steadied and decent foundation of 38 runs for the first wicket. Later on, it was the pair of number three batter Jemimah Rodrigues and star wicketkeeper-batter Richa Ghosh, that took India across the finishing line.
Eventually, India won the match by seven wickets and Rodrigues won the ‘player of the match award for her match-defining knock in favor of India.
