As India announced their final ODI World Cup squad on September 28, former all-rounder Yuzvendra Chahal questioned the omission of leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal from the squad. Yuvraj called it a very risky move to leave Chahal out and also said that it might prove suicidal for Team India. Meanwhile, Chahal spoke to the media and also expressed his feelings.

Speaking with a media house, Chahal said that he is used to getting left out of the World Cup squad. He also said that he is just moving on from it, as only 15 players can go to the prestigious tournament. “I understand that only fifteen players can be a part because it’s a World Cup, where you can’t take 17 or 18,” Chahal told Wisden India earlier this week. “I do feel a little bad, but my motto in life is to move on. I’m used to it now. It’s been three World Cups (laughs)", Chahal told Wisden.

"That’s why I came here Kent> to play because I want to play cricket somewhere, somehow,” Chahal added. “I’m getting a chance here with a red ball, and I seriously want to play red ball for India. So it was a good experience for me. I spoke to the coaches too, and they’re happy I’m playing somewhere because you can practice as much in the nets, but match is match. I’m getting to play at a very good level here—first division, county—and I'm learning a lot here", says Chahal.

Yuzvendra Chahal has been phenomenal with the ball

Since his debut in 2016, the leg spinner has been phenomenal throughout his career. He has clinched the third-highest wicket for India in limited over cricket, while the second-highest by a spinner. In his last World Cup in England, Chahal clinched 12 wickets at an average of 36.38. However, a dip in form and an inability to score runs lowered the order, and Yuzvendra Chahal failed to make it into the World Cup squad.

It is worth noting that India picked three spinners for the prestigious tournament. Ace spinners Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, and Kuldeep Yadav are part of the squad. All-rounder Axar Patel was in the squad but was replaced by Ashwin after picking up an injury. It's worth noting that India will start their campaign against Australia at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on October 8.
