Dinesh Karthik has made a sensational comeback in the last few months when everyone thought his playing career was over. These days, he is the designated finisher for the Indian team in T20I cricket. In the Indian T20 League 2022 and for the national team, he has played some sensational innings. Meanwhile, the right-hander has made a sensational revelation about former India head coach Ravi Shastri.
The Tamil Nadu player has said that Shastri had a low tolerance who wouldn't bat at a certain rate. The wicketkeeper batter explained that Ravi didn't like the players batting differently in the nets and the game. Karthik also mentioned that the 1983 World Cup winner always knew what he wanted out of the team and had less tolerance for failures.
"He had a very low tolerance for somebody who wouldn’t bat at a certain pace he did not like or someone who was doing very differently in the nets and in the match, he would go and bat differently. He would not be very appreciative of that. Shastri knew exactly what he wanted from the team, the way in which it was played but his tolerance was very little for failures. He always used to push people to do very well," Karthik said on Cricbuzz docuseries 'Summer Stalemate'.
Shastri wasn't a talented player but a good coach: Dinesh Karthik
The two-time World Championship winner added that even though Ravi wasn't a talented player but was a good coach. The former pointed out that Shastri did a much better job than anyone expected him to and was a larger-than-life person. Dinesh also revealed that the 60-year-old always pushed players to achieve special things.
"I think Shastri the player was somebody who was probably not as talented but fulfilled his talent as coach. He did much better than what he was expected to do. As a coach, he was a larger-than-life person. He was somebody who pushed players to try and achieve special things," he added.
