Dinesh Karthik has been in some unreal form of late. The Indian T20 league 2022 has seen him score runs for fun. He has played the role of the finished to perfection. As a matter of fact, he has played the rescue act on several occasions for Bangalore already.
The 27th match of the Indian T20 league 2022 saw Karthik score an unbeaten 66 from just 34 balls. He also went on to win his second player of the match award of this edition. When it comes to his overall numbers in the ongoing 2022 edition, he has scored 197 runs at an average of 197 as he has been dismissed just once so far in the season. He has a whopping strike rate of 209.57 in the six games in which he has played.
This has led to several experts and fans demanding him to make it to the Indian squad for the 20-20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. Karthik himself expressed his willingness to feature in the tournament. During the post-match presentation on Saturday, the keeper-batter said that he wants to win the 20-20 WC 2022 for India.
“The bigger vision is that I want to play for the country. I know there is a World Cup around the corner. I want to be part of that World Cup desperately and help India cross that line. It’s been a long time since India won a multi-nation tournament. I want to be that person who is helping India do that. For that, you need to be aware of so many things, try and be that player who people think ‘hey this guy is doing something special,” said Dinesh Karthik.
He also drew light on being assigned the role of a finisher. Karthik stated that his calmness comes from preparations. He also stressed about staying in the moment.
"When you are batting at the death, you try and get under the ball more while hitting. You make me sound like a serial killer (when asked as to how was he so calm and hit them so hard at the same time). I must admit positions and calmness comes from preparations. Apart from that staying in the moment sounds cliched but it works," he added.
