Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Eoin Morgan was disappointed with his team's 7-wicket defeat against Delhi Capitals. Put to bat first, KKR batters were struggling at 82/5 before a rear-guard effort by Andre Russell took the total to 154/6. In response, Delhi Capitals faced no issues and quickly chased down the total. Opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw formed a crucial 132 run partnership and helped DC clinch their fifth victory of the season.

Kolkata Knight Riders' bowling unit one again failed, and it was Pat Cummins who only returned 3/24 from his four overs quota. He accounted for all three DC wickets to fall, Dhawan for 46, Shaw for 82, and Rishabh Pant for 16. With the result, the Knight Riders are placed fifth on the points table with just two wins on the season so far.

KKR fails to perform as a cohesive unit

Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan starred with the willow as DC easily defeated KKR by 7 wickets. The match was held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Thursday. Shaw and Dhawan played crucial innings of 82 and 46, respectively, as the side recorded a win with 21 balls to spare. Delhi Capitals have now moved to the second spot in the points table with 10 points with this victory.

Earlier, Axar Patel and Lalit Yadav picked up two important wickets each. Delhi Capitals restricted Kolkata Knight Riders to a score of 154/6 in the allotted 20 overs quota. For Kolkata, Shubman Gill got a good start as he played a knock of 43 runs. The KKR top-order once again failed to deliver against Delhi Capitals. The side lost their first five wickets for just 82 runs. It was Andre Russell's innings that helped the side to put up a score of 154. Andre Russell and Pat Cummins played crucial knocks of 45 and 11, respectively. However, KKR still had to settle with a below-par score.

Kolkata certainly has a well-balanced team that has the potential to go all the way in IPL 2021. However, the team have failed to perform as a cohesive unit. Kolkata Knight Riders are currently at the fifth position in the points table with four points from seven IPL games. Eoin Morgan & Co. will next play against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Monday.
